When you make 2 - 12.5 mg DMSA doses from a 25 mg capsule, do you have

to use a filler to fill the remaining space? Or can you just take

them half full (I see some people talk about putting in vit c

powder)?

-------------You don't have to use a filler. It is fine to take them half

full. I think some people add Vit C just to fill up the space, and to get some

Vit C with each dose, which Andy does say is ok or good to do. But it is not

necessary.--------Jackie

Also, where can you get empty capsules that small? Do they

make anything smaller than an " 0 " ?

----------I would think most HFS would carry empty capsules, and there are

probably many online sources, but here's the link to one that has many sizes. I

myself, like the 0 size, because if it's bigger, it makes it easier to pour the

powder in.-----Jackie

Does anybody just open up a 25 and pour half into another by eyeballing it?

-----------I have always poured mine out on paper and divided it, but if you

can hold up both capsules and eyeball them that way, that should be fine

too.---------Jackie

I will be trying to divide into even smaller doses for a child. How do

you do that? Can you split into quarters and put into water or juice?

Thanks,

Janet

Janet-

Here's an old post from me on AMC about how I make custom doses:

-------------------------------------------------------------------

I use a Cap-M-Quick with size O capsules.

I have found that 15ml = 25 capsules (or 30ml will do all 50

capsules, but I usually make 25 at a time).

So, my method for making 25 capsules:

-break open as many DMSA/DMPS/ALA capsules worth of chelator as I

want in 25 capsules into a little measuring cup (e.q.I used 10 100mg

caps of DMSA to make 25 40mg caps).

-top off the measuring cup to 15 ml with Vit C powder.

-put this mix in a little jar and shake it up until it is well mixed.

-pour the mix out on the Cap-M-Quick and spread into 25 caps.

Its much esier than dividing by hand.

I maybe waste 1/2% of the contents, if that.

I bought it from www.iherb.com

We divide the 25mg capsules on a plate, and put half into another

empty capsule. We save them up from other supplements that we also

empty out of the capsules into juice. You gather quite a collection in

a short time. Or you can purchase empty one. As fillers we use

magnesium, vitamin C, milk thistle, grapefruit seed extract

powder..whatever extra supplements they might need.

You can put it in to water or juice, but it should be done right

before you give it. It is advisable to use premixed chelator in a

short period of time. (if it has been put into juice) My personal

experience was not to mix it ahead of time, but right before I gave

it. The taste tends to get worse if it's mixed hours before rather

than minutes. cold juice also tend to dull the taste.

Also, when putting it in juice or liquids, make it a tiny amount of

liquid, such as you can administer in a medicine syringe or cup. You

don't want the child to get too full of liquid and not finish the dose.
