Guest guest
Andy or anyone who knows... Can anyone please offer some input on whether or not the urine challenge is an accurate and adviseable way to determine heavy metal toxicity? I am interested in chelating our son with ALA alone but want to do a DMSA urine challenge first to make sure other metals are not free floating to potentially cross the BBB while using ALA. Thanks

Thanks ----------I think answered this really well, they are not accurate or adviseable. As long as your son hasn't had recent exposure and doesn't have amalgam fillings in his mouth, then chelating with ALA should be fine. If you are concerned about metals going into the brain instead of out, then chelate for awhile using DMSA only, to reduce body burden first, then add ALA. Also, have you done a hair test? This is a much safer and more accurate way to check for mercury and other metals, and what is advised by Andy.--------Jackie
