Did you get a new mattress, or just go back to your old one? The toxic mattress was a new one, right?-------Jackie My other mattress was a Tempur foam mattress. It was about 8 months old. I bought that Tempur foam mattress because I was sleeping so badly and it replaced a cheap old mattress. At the time I was not aware of alternative medicine, toxic chemicals, mercury or anything, just that I was sleeping badly and thought a new mattress might help. It didn't and now I know why….these things are required by law to have fire retardant chemicals in them. They are super toxic. " B.F.R's " which is " brominated flame retardants. " I am chemically sensitive and these things are the kiss of death. I have been in the spare room on a cheap mattress for about 1 month now. It's a cheap uncomfortable mattress, but uncomfortable is better than toxic! Now that I am not sleeping on a toxic mattress things are getting better and better for me. Removing this toxin from my life is making a big big difference. My sleep is restful. My body is no longer battling toxins when I sleep. I am waking up feeling better and rested. I have been seeing my osteopath weekly for 4 months now and since I have been on the spare bed, the muscles in my back are totally calming down. The knots are coming out and staying out too. My new Organic mattress has arrived 2 days ago. Guaranteed no toxic chemicals used. No fire retardant chemicals pumped inside. I eventually got the latex mattress from here http://www.abacaorganic.co.uk/abaca-matt.html I muscle tested fine. It did smell very " new " and I was a bit worried but turned out fine. Muscle tested fine and dandy. But the real test is sleeping on it! And……………. I slept like a log. Super comfortable. I actually woke up feeling rested. Phew! I wake up feeling refreshed for the first time since…...since I can't remember. This is a major discovery. A major boost for me. I spend 1/3 of my life in bed and for the first time in years and years and years…………I am sleeping on a toxic free bed……… Sunshine
Guest guest
Sunshine, this is wonderful news! Congrats! So...the latex mattress is natural, right? That's the one you're sleeping on, or the organic mattress, or is it the SAME mattress? I don't know if you remember me telling you about my experience with mattresses, being chemically sensitive too. I'm curious about the " new " smell too. : Donna >>>Sunshine wrote: And……………. Guest guest
Hi Donna. Yes, the mattress i just bought is latex is most definately a natural latex, from a tree, but his air bubbles added during production which makes it soft and springy, just like a foam mattress, or a normal mattress. The heavier the parts of your body lying on the mattress, the more it gives....so every part of your body get supported during sleep. It is the most comfortable mattress i have ever slept on. in no way is this like a black latex gimp mask, that immediatelty springs to mind when talking about latex! this latex is 100pct organic, from a rubber tree. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Sunshine And…………….
