Guest guest
> Can someone please tell me what the strong ammonia smell in stool might be? what can be done for it? Thanks so much for all responses. One cause is bacteria - we went through this. But another reason is just improper metabolization of ammonia in the system. I am giving my son and husband No-Fenol and this is helping. My husband runs and his sweaty clothes would reak of ammonia - he doesn't smell, just the sweaty clothes. He has been taking 2 No-Fenol a day for a week and the smell cut by about half. Then he went on a trip for a week and did not take enzymes. Yes, the running clothes smelled again when he got back. Then he started the No-Fenol again and the smell dropped off. So I am convinced that at least in some cases, the No-Fenol helps the ammonia (this is standard what the No-Fenol enzymes are used for in animal science). Husband and Younger Son both have IBS which has a bacterial/yeast aspect to it. Alpha-something-or-other is also supposed to help with ammonia, but it seems more iffy. Also, cutting back on meats/proteins or adding a protease enzyme could help. Karne.
