Hi , hang in there, I'm all mucked up too! More comments below, all the

way down.------Jackie

Yes I am taking Armour thyroid and am on prednisolone for the adrenals

too. I am also addressing female hormone problems but everything has

proved difficult despite mine and the Doctors best attempts. I think

the mercury has mucked everything up so much that there isn't much I

can do apart from keep chugging on with the low doses of DMSA.

---------All my hormones are all mucked up too, so I understand. Keep working

on them, but I agree that we have to keep plugging along with chelation. What

type of testing have you done, blood or saliva, and what type of doctor are you

working with?------Jackie

The only time my hair loss stopped was when I got my ferritin up with

iron infusions. (I think that was the reason). But it has dropped

almost nothing again within months as my periods are still

uncontrollable. I also think that I was actually MORE ill when the

ferritin was in normal range so I am in no hurry to repeat the infusions.

-----------How low was your ferritin? Mine was 4 two years ago. If you have

HTI book, read about iron in there, Andy explains exactly what happened to you,

feeling worse by raising your ferritin when you're toxic. The iron is causing

oxidative stress, and your body is trying to protect itself by keeping your iron

low, so that is why your ferritin dropped again after the injections. This is a

sign that you need to take more antioxidants, and this might allow your body to

raise its ferritin levels. I also had heavy periods for years, and over a year

ago had an ablation while having a D&C done, so I barely bleed anymore. This

has been very nice. Although at the time, I didn't realize that my problems may

have been caused by severely low progesterone levels. The OBGYN tested my blood

levels of hormones, and told me I was fine. Now that I have done saliva testing

of hormones, I have found a number of them are low and/or out of balance. So if

you're working with a mainstream doctor on hormones, they might not catch your

problems. Anyway, since having the ablation, taking lots of antioxidants, and

taking a highly absorbable form of iron with Betaine HCl at meals so it is

absorbed well, I have been able to raise my ferritin to 51. And I remember

going through a period where my body must have been ready to correct this,

because I craved red meat like mad! So be patient about the iron thing, and the

easiest thing you can do right now is to take more antioxidants like Vit

C.----Jackie

I think you are right about the adrenals - mine are pretty much

useless now. They were bad before chelation but now my Doc thinks they

are pretty much lifeless. So I do realise it's going to be slow :-(

--------- is probably right, chelation has gone slow for me also, but my

adrenals are pretty beat up, so I guess we're all in the same

boat.--------Jackie

You do give me some envouragement though - by saying that the DMSA HAS

to be removing some of the mercury.:-)

----------Yes, taken properly, it has to be removing some. So hang in there

and stick with it!----------Jackie

Thanks

--------I don't remember the exact connection, but I think your body needs

ferritin to use your thyroid hormone, so this makes sense with what you said

above about your hair not falling out when you took iron

injections.--------Jackie

------------It also took me over a year to get up to 25mg of DMSA, after

starting at 12.5mg. So I'm in the same boat as , either very toxic, or

slow going because of adrenal and other hormone problems.---------Jackie

---------Andy does say there can be a long stall period where not much

happens. You just have to push through it and keep chelating. And then at some

point, you should start to see improvements again.-----------Jackie

reasons. Better to chelate at a low dose than not at all.-----------Jackie

-----------Good to double check. But like I said, you may be in the stall

period, or there may be other things hampering your progress. Messed up

hormones could definitely be part of this.-----------Jackie

the end that was closest to your head?--------Jackie

-----------I also recently tried ALA, and 6mg knocked me out! And I am

2+years post amalgam removal! I do also have arsenic to deal with also, which

may play into my reaction to ALA. At least you tried it, and now you know

you're not ready for it.-----Jackie

------------We all come here with very different backgrounds and probably very

different underlying other health problems, and we all have different genetic

makeups, so it is hard to pinpoint why some have an easier time than others.

There is probably something you haven't identified and addressed yet that is

causing you to struggle with chelation. Just keep searching for answers, and

hopefully you'll figure this out! Just hang in there!---------Jackie

Val, I am so glad to hear you are doing better and are finally getting to the

bottom of at least some of your issues, because I know you have struggled with

this for a long time. So what prompted you to get tested for pyroluria?

Let us know how chelation goes now, now that you are feeling better and figured

out some other health issues. Good luck.--------Jackie

ppfffftt I crash.

-- If I can, I'd like to give another perspective on the adrenal

part of this mess. I tested positive for gluten sensitivity and off

the charts for pyroluria. Pyroluria is a blood disorder where you

leech out b6 and zinc primarily. It manifests mostly as a stress

disorder and the adrenals are severely affected. I stopped taking

HC months ago and Armour last summer as I was getting limited

benefits at best from them.

Since I've been gluten free (almost 2 months now) and supplementing

heavily with zinc and b6 -- my energy has gone way up. I just worked

a 12 hour day. That would have been IMPOSSIBLE just a few months

ago. My sleep has improved also and some days I actually feel warm -

but not always. I have read wear alot of b6 is good for thyroid

function. My aches and pains have improved dramatically also.

Bloating has gone way down too.

I still have lots of cognitive issues though where I feel like my

brain is working alot slower than everybody elses. So, I'm going to

start up ala again this weekend.

Just wanted to add another option to the pot..

Val
