Hello Group,

Is ALA supposed to be taken on an empty stomach? What would be a very

minimal amount to start with every 3 hours, i.e. 10 mg 8 times per day? Is every

4

hours acceptable?

Thanks,

Glenn

--------I don't think it matters. On a chelation round, people end up taking

it with and without food.--------Jackie

-----------You do have your fillings removed, right? You are supposed to wait

3 months after amalgam removal before starting ALA. Alot of people start at

about 12.5mg every 3 hours. Some are fine with that, and some have to go lower,

even 6 or less. Everyone is different. So 10mg would be a reasonable amount to

try.------Jackie

Is every 4 hours acceptable?

----------The general rule for ALA is every 3 hours or less during the day,

and it can be ok to stretch it out to every 4 hours at night, to get a little

more sleep. Some people feel better on more frequent dosing, like every 2 to 3

hours, and do not do well trying to stretch it out to 4. So it is an individual

thing that you have to experiment with and figure out what's best for

you.----------Jackie

Thanks,

Glenn

Yes,

No. That would cause too much redistribution which would lead to

worsening.

200 mg is way too much for starting out and dividing down to small

doses introduces too much error. When you get to the point of needing

50 mg it would be ok to divide 200 mg by 4 but better to buy 50mg, or

the right size that you need at the time.

When starting out it would be better to find 25 mg caps and divide in

two for 12.5 mg or by 5 for 5 mg. See ALA sources in the files or

links sections.
