It sounds like composite wears out sooner and I have personally experienced that as well. Composites are not suppose to wear more than 7-9 years, at most. ------------I read/heard that composite fillings are much harder to place than amalgam, so the skill of the dentist placing the composite is very important, and has alot to do with how well they hold up. So that's another reason to have them done by an experienced mercury free dentist, rather than just asking your regular dentist to do it, because he wouldn't have as much experience placing composites. AND the reason we are replacing our fillings is to get the MERCURY out of our mouths so they stop poisoning us. We are not just choosing whatever material lasts the longest. We are mercury poisoned and need to get rid of the source of it.----------Jackie My 4 amalgams are fairly big so it means if I get my amlagams replaced with composite then in next few years I'll have to get the crown or maybe the bridge which means losing my teeth and burning my pocket at the same time. So isn't it better to keep some mercury and save my teeth in the long run. ------------Of course this will be up to you, but most of us here are very ill from mercury poisoning, and keeping them is not an option for us if we want to get well. You cannot chelate until you have them removed. Yes the dental work can get expensive, but if you only have 4 regular fillings, then it shouldn't be too bad. Your insurance might even pay for it or part of it. Mine did. Also, you haven't told us if you have done any testing or have any symptoms of mercury poisoning. Some people are naturally better detoxers than others, and you may not be feeling the effects of your fillings, or not yet. If you have the book Amalgam Illness, read the section starting on page 25, and see if any of it fits you. The other thing we suggest on this group is to get a hair test and check for mercury that way. For many of us, our hair mercury is low, but we have deranged mineral transport as explained in Hair Test Interpretation, which also means mercury poisoning. So, maybe if you are questioning whether you should have them replaced or not, then a hair test might be a good idea. Symptoms are important also. And the final thing I would like to say about this topic is something I heard a long time ago. What's more important, the life of the filling or the life of the patient? Jackie Please let me know what to do!!!! -----------Get a hair test if you're unsure.------------Jackie Thanks in advance... Sunny >
Guest guest
Thank you so much for your input!!!! Yes, I have numerous health issues nothing major in terms of doctors but bad enough to immensely disrupt my life. I can't sleep, get up b/w 3-4 everynight sometimes with night sweats and sometimes with an urge to go to the bathroom. I got my hair analysis done in Oct 2006 and it shows some mercury but much more Al(Aluminium). My Calcium, Magnesium and Copper were off the chart....My digestion is gone really bad, can't take vitamin C unless it is buffered even acidic fruits. I can't sit after I eat feels really acidic, and like something is pushing upwards in my stomach... Any suggestions, please!!! Thanks in advance!!!
