try to get HC afterall- I just cannot seem to conclude what is best

for me at this time. After re-reading my lab results from last fall,

their recommendation is either cortisol or licorice, and as I have

stated before licorice makes me jittery. So I guess I am still

debating what is best protocol at this time. Thanks for you help.

While I don't have a sure fire answer, it varies from person to

person. Depends on how bad your adrenals are.

What adrenal cortex extract does as per Andy, is provide the support

and nutrients needed to nourish your adrenals so they can recover and

heal up in order to work better on their own. This is the least

invasive way of treating it. No doc is needed. No Medical ID tag..etc.

Hydrocortisone replaces the hormone your adrenals are not making

enough of. This gives them a break also. Both courses involve somewhat

long term treatment, however with the cortisone you need to be

diligent in taking it and be sure to wean slowly off of it over a

period of months after you have done sufficient time using it

(probably a year or longer depending on toxicity). I don't see a

problem with that if it helps and give you quality of life. Since most

of us may need lifelong endocrine support after what the mercury has

done. You also must notify any doctor or emergency room personnel that

you are on it. As more is needed during stresses. I am going by what I

read in Andy's book. I have not moved on to cortisone yet. Haven't

needed too.

The ACE is less touchy in that you should wean down but this can be

done in days or a few weeks because as I am told it does not contain

cortisol. However, I must note that is certainly works despite that

claim. I found ACE was the first step in trying to help the adrenals.

If this does not work, then I would pursue cortisone. I also note that

if we miss a dose, you do not flip out or have severe symptoms. You

may notice yourself a bit more edgy than usually and this reminds you

to take one. It costs $13 for 100 caps. So it's moderate in cost. I

have seen a range of need from one cap a day to 4. Depends on the person.

My daughters' saliva test was pretty bad. Her adrenals are really

shot, but since she is not adult age, using cortisone is tricky and

not advised unless nothing else works. So we use ACE for her also. And

it works, it maintains her and alleviates symptoms.
