Having read 's piece (which I thought was very good) and all the other

comments, I just had to read Alice Miles' article - which I have just done.

And I have to say - that it wasn't as awful and bigoted as I thought it was

going to be from the replies and comments I'd read.

Actually, I have to say that I can see where she's coming from - OK some of

her comments were a bit one-sided - but not that different from those of many

single, childless women.

As I read it - what she was saying (or at least trying to) was that society

has a responsibility to children, and families - whivh I have to say I agree

with. OK her comments about working mums etc. were wide of the mark, and she

was very sarcastic about parenting at times - but essentially a lot of what

she said had a ring of truth. So give the women a break :-)
