We, too, exchanged on Monday but only down the chain - which means we will complete on the sale of our property on 17th August and hope to exchange soon on the purchase of next house with completion the same date. The only problem is that we are booked to go to Menorca with all the children (5) on the 3rd!! And the removal company can only accommodate us on the 1st - so we are packing up to move house and go on holiday - stuff will go into store for 3 weeks whilst we are on holiday and then we'll camp out with friends and clean up the new house before moving in properly. An expensive way to do things but it seems the only option! Good luck with your move!! ann SAHM to (15/1/86), Kirsty (5/6//87) and Ben (11/7/98). Guest guest
Ooh Ann, what a palaver and how brave you are - packing for holidays and moving house - then living out of boxes for a while. Still, you've got to do, what you've got to do. I found it bad enough just packing when we moved - at least when things got tough you could just sling it in anywhere knowing it was all going to be unpacked again in the next week or so (tho' having said that we still have 2 unpacked boxes and we moved 2 years ago!) At least this way you can get the new house in some sort of order at your own pace - rather than arriving at the same time as the removal men, with them asking " where do I put this, that or the other " and me swanning around my new pad with no idea whatsoever. And how nice to have a holiday to relax after all that packing - or is it to fire you up ready to clean and sort the new house when you get there. Good luck.
