Guest guest
Hi folks, Haven't had the same sort of luck with ramping up on chelation as others on my 10 year old son (92 pounds) also treated concurrently for Lyme disease. On the 12.5 DMSA + 12.5 ALA 3rd round (every 3 hours dosing), he experienced many of the same symptoms as the previous 2 rounds, except worse. Had to stop round 3 after 24 hours (again) because of intense cramping of stomach, nausea, and what I think was the feeling of swollen glands on the side of his neck (hurt to swallow, but no sore throat). The " neck-ache " gives him the feeling on nausea. These were the same symptoms as the previous two rounds, although he got through the 2nd round intact and recovered. This time, however, the cramping and " neck " problem did not resolve. It has been almost 2 weeks and he is still not fully recovered. His pain is mostly after he eats, and he is extremely fatigued. The pains are quite acute, and I even brought him to the emergency room this Monday. No joy there, of course, since he didn't have appendicitis. He has been off/on antibiotics during the past 3 weeks (Lyme) so this is a co-factor. I have seen no improvement in symptoms, in fact, he seems duller than usual, but this could be from the side effects. He has had no diarrhea (except one bout after a sugar binge at a party), no real gas, but I'm wondering if what has happened is a yeast problem. He is usually constipated. Any ideas, recommendations ... ? This has been very discouraging and frightening, since I've had to cut 2 rounds short, and deal with potential mal-redistribution. Additionally, does anyone have any good recommendations for easing his cramps? They seem to be intestinal for him, rather than stomach related. His pediatrician recommended Prevacid (but he was just shotgunning the symptoms). Appreciate your comments and help! Deb
Guest guest
Have you done DMSA alone? If not, you may need to do many rounds of it before you add ALA. You may even need to do your DMSA-only rounds on a smaller dose of DMSA. I weigh twice what your son weighs, and did 12.5 mg DMSA alone every 3 hours for my first 12 rounds. And I'm probably less toxic than many. Guest guest
You need to be on probiotics and treat yeast. I would also do just dmsa for a little while. I use 12.5mg on myself and kids. We never increased it becuase why mess with what works. If the 12.5mg causes too many problems still, go lower. He may also need immune support during chelation. My son needed it for a while. We use echinacea and colostrum, zinc. Is he on all the vitamians/minerals for chelation? Also being on antibiotics...is going to make yeast all right, add in chelation and whammo! You may need to let him work through the lyme treatment first if possible. That is probably doing a number on his immune system. Easing the cramps..you need to get him to go to the bathroom regularly. Treating the constipation is key. It may be from yeast or from his diet..either way..it would make things go better is he had daily bowel movements..especially if chelating. A really high strain probiotic, antifungals, modify diet (no dairy), even maybe fiber supps or senokot to " clean out " . > > >> > > > Hi folks, > > Haven't had the same sort of luck with ramping up on chelation as > others on my 10 year old son (92 pounds) also treated concurrently for > Lyme disease. > > On the 12.5 DMSA + 12.5 ALA 3rd round (every 3 hours dosing), he > experienced many of the same symptoms as the previous 2 rounds, except > worse. > > Had to stop round 3 after 24 hours (again) because of intense cramping > of stomach, nausea, and what I think was the feeling of swollen glands > on the side of his neck (hurt to swallow, but no sore throat). Any ideas, recommendations ... ? Deb ~~~~~~~~~~~ Hi Deb, I have had constant swollen glands on the right side of my neck since they put the amalgams in thirteen years ago. The first time the glands went down to normal size was after I began using Milk Thistle to aid liver function. It works like clockwork--within a couple hours of taking the milk thistle, my gland has gone down. Now, it does swell back up when --what I perceive to be mercury " build up " occurs-- because as soon as I begin chelating with ALA, it goes back down. So, for me, there are two factors: aiding the body to eliminate mercury to the liver and aiding the liver to flush it out completely. There most likely is a yeast issue with your son, as well, because of the mercury and of the antibiotics, and you'll need to address that with probiotics. Hope this helps --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Make Yahoo your homepage.

Guest guest
What doses of what chelators did you use for the first three rounds. How many hours apart did you give the doses in the day and at night. How much does your 10 year old weigh. What supplements are you giving him? Do you have " Amalgam Illness " and Andy's " Hair Test Interpretation " books.
