Guest guest
I can relate to that. When I had my first, and only, so far, colonoscopy the gastroenterologist was unable to get a scope past my tumor. He even tried a pediatric size scope, but no joy. I had already gone to a pretty-much liquid diet on my own. I was having problems but couldn't figure out why. All I knew was that I didn't want to eat anything solid. I think I ended up on a liquid diet for almost a month before things started getting back to normal. I know it's no fun; hang in there, Hil. -joe- > Well the gastronologist just called. In one way I feel better and in another I don't know:) I will see him Monday afternoon and he will probably do the procedure Tuesday if he can do it. At least I know what they are planning to try to do. As usual they have to tell you everything that can go wrong and how you may end up in surgery. Really what I wanted to hear. At least I found they are not going down my throat to get to the rectum:) That part I have really been trying to figure out. They are going or try to go up the recturm and do a balloon stretch first so they can get in my colon to see it and biopsy. Problem is I can not handle a laxative so he has just put me on a liquid diet. One day liquid is bad enough but 5 days is going to be tough. I do need to lose the weight but I have a fondness for food and just sit here and think what I can eat next. Now I think of it I forgot to tell him I am diabetic so will have to watch that. Have a call in to my regular Dr about that. I also needed syringes for my insulin and found they can't call them in to pharmacy. I have to go to his office to pick them up which is 45 minutes away. I don't drive and tired of having my kids take off work to run me around. My prescription calls for a box of 100 at a time. Crazy thing is I can go to drugstore and buy 10 at a time without a prescription and yet they can't call them in. > I was up all night with the pains and sitting in the reading room. I spend so much time in there we need to get Air Conditioner put in:) I don't have the problem that Ingrid and have. My problem is there is such a narrowing I can't get it out but a tiny bit at a time so makes it many trips a day trying. > > Hil > > >

Guest guest
Hil, I guess it is good that they will do the procedure on Tuesday hopefully. Will the balloon stretch keep it stretched or is it just a temporary solution? Oh how terible to not eat for five days. That in itself is torture. I feel for you. As if we do not go through enough but to have to endure fasting as well. Yes, I am amused that you can buy ten syringes at a time but have to pick up a larger amount. Wonders never cease, do they? When will you know if the procedure will be done Tuesday? I want to know so I can b Praying for you during the day. I do hope that it all can get done and that you can find some releif to this soon. Guest guest
Oh Hil, this is just the pits!!! Liquid for 5 days???? Does it have to be 'clear' liquids? Or can you do soups with a little substance to them? Oh man, I'm not gonna eat anything this weekend without thinking about you.....I'll just say a prayer every time, k? About the syringes....they have some of the craziest laws. My prescription for the tincture of opium has to be picked up in person. Not a family member, me...only me. Then it has to be hand delivered to the pharmacy by me....only me. Yet on the side of the bottle it says " do not drive " . ok. I'll just drag my wings outta the closet and fly....geez. Eating tons of marshmallows today and doing much better. Karima? Ya need me to FedEx ya some???? J Finally talked to Dr Well the gastronologist just called. Guest guest
Well that day I had Depends underpants on and it wasn't like I hadn't gone at home, I had. I just don't understand it. Now tonight when I go out it will definitely be the overnights just in case. I can't imagine when I have to drive myself to Albuquerque with the dogs. I will be pooping by the roadside. Thanks for the moral support. Karima Re: Finally talked to Dr >>>You do know I had to go into a gas station bathroom to wash my slacks and then walked shamefacedly back to my car dripping wet. Guest guest
I was told over a year ago when they could not do the colonoscopy that I needed a balloon stretch. My EX surgeon does not think they work! I know people that have had them in different parts and they have worked well. Sometimes they do have to do them a couple times. He also mentioned the stent so guess I will know more Monday when I talk to him. He asked if we should discuss this first or just go ahead Tues but I thought it would be better if we discuss it. I don't see that I have any choices and getting the stretch is something I have wanted to do. Of course I did not know the cancer may have returned so this will also let them do the biopsy from what he said. As far as I know everything is set for Tuesday. I sure hope I don't go without eating and he says no on Monday:) Don't think that will happen as we really have no options except surgery that I am trying not to do. I know and they know I don't do surgery well. My regular Dr just called that I wanted to ask him about adjusting my insulin. Good I did call him as I was thinking of my liquid diet of including boost, instant carnation and such with vitamens. He said no as they contain fiber to stick to juices and gatorade. That is a switch because they all contain sugar but he said that is ok for now. I do know some people who have had their esgohogus (sp) stretched they go back every year or two for it. I was told before a ballon stretch is similiar to having a colonoscopy as far at the procedure goes. Having the biopsy which my understanding is outside wall of colon and not being able to take the laxative may make it a little more difficult. I do think I am going to one of the very best Dr's to do it so that makes me feel better. The sedative they normally give me does not put me out which I have liked but think with this I may want to go out:) I now have three of my four daughters taking off work Tuesday to go with me. The fourth has not been told yet so may have her to:) I told them ok without eating they may need a couple to carry me in. I may have lost my husband but he did give me four wonderful daughters! Two have already discussed the family leave with their bosses in case I do have to have surgery. Hil Re: Finally talked to Dr Hil, I guess it is good that they will do the procedure on Tuesday hopefully. Will the balloon stretch keep it stretched or is it just a temporary solution? Guest guest
Took the boys out to see Fantastic4 ~ We got the most perfect seats in the house... center stage... Fine until I start cramping... I know it is within minutes of feeling those cramps that something is going to explode. Had to leave the theatre twice. I had envisions of me exploding while trying to get through the aisle. I could not wait to get home. How miserable this crap is! I look forward to all of us attaining some reasonable normality. Jay Barbara Gari wrote: > Not yet. Guest guest
I know this sounds crazy but when I can't get it to start I usually send my daughter out to get me a couple cups of cappichino. Why I don't know but it usually helps me get started. This whole thing is crazy. Either can't stop going or can't get going:) Hil Re: Finally talked to Dr Not yet. See I go from the sh*ts to a day of " waiting " . I am literally afraid to go out. I am starting to understand about the metamucil wafers as a bulker upper (nice word usage, ha). I have been waiting all day for my doc to call and I have to go out to rehearsals tonight. How do you get it going if it doesn't want to start. I drank my Reliv shake today. What can I do? Guest guest
You got a car with a backseat? Do like we do.....I have my very own litterbox!!! Yep, it's a litterbox, with the catpan liner, filled with litter. Just pull that car over to the side, get in the back and use it. I have. Easy to clean up when you get home. Just take out the liner and throw it away. nancy Re: Finally talked to Dr >>>You do know I had to go into a gas station bathroom to wash my slacks and then walked shamefacedly back to my car dripping wet. Karima >>>> No, Karima, I didn't realize that. I missed a few days of messages and hurriedly tried to skim them. My heart just breaks for you over this!! This is one of my greatest fears every time I try to go out. And one reason that I always wear the Depends, but I don't think they would contain it all. I would still have a mess. What do we do about things like this? Isn't there any answer anywhere for us? nancy ---------- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus.
