Some docs just hate giving that " educated guess " , my mom's doc is the same.

I didn't know that about oregon. So what exactly is Death with Dignity? They

actually give you a drink?

Death with Dignity is usually the no extaordinary means. Much like some of

the Terry Shivo issues. However this thing with the drink is contreversal and

at least used to be called assisted death/suicide which is why it is not

available in all states. My Dad was in excrutiating pain. We used the hospital

staff and hospice and lots of pain drugs. We then removed every unecessary

item.

All he got was pain meds and water.

It was peaceful and he was comfortable. This assisted death is not necessary

if the time comes I'd call hospice.

By the way many stage 4's beat the so called prognosis and then some!

I am so sorry to know that they only give you a fifty percent chance

to make it two years. But you also know that each person is

different. And then they may also find something new that could slow

the cancer down. Perhaps even find a cure. You never know.

All you can do is try to live your life to the fullest. Enjoy your

family and friends. Watch the sunsets and know that God is there for

us. See the beauty of this life. Enjoy today and make the best of

each day. Know that people care about you and enjoy them.

I too am terrified of the future with cancer. But we must keep

reminding ourselves that whatever happens, will happen. We cannot

change that. I am Praying that you find Peace in yourself. God Bless

You!!! Ingrid

Yes, but those oncs would want to have a prognosis if they got sick!

Death with Dignity Act. You take barbiturates, mix it up with juice or

apple sauce and in about 6 minutes (if the dose is correct), you are

gone. It's humane and we voted on it 2x here, but this administration

is trying to get rid of it. It's only been used by less than 150 people

since it's been around... I forget but at least 10 years (chemo brain).
