You said this woman was released from the hospital. Did she have surgery?

Surgery of any kind but most commonly from long bone fractures (like your

thigh) or hip surgery but not limited to those types can cause an embolism.

Sometimes someone who has A-fib (atrial fribulation) can throw a clot if the

A-fib breaks and they go into another heart rhythm.

Those 2 scenarios are both more likely, but we don't know why she was

hospitalized ....I'm curious.
