Guest guest
Does anyone know any (recruitment) agencies that specialise in finding you part time work? I have found one (Working Options) which seems good, but the more the merrier. Also think I once read about a group of mothers who got together to offer various skills to the market place in a part time or work from home fashion - does this ring a bell with anyone? Any other ways one could find part time work? First day back in the office proved to me that I can't continue in my current job... in spite of the fact that I get to work 3 days a week. Problem is... I've only ever applied for full time work before, and part time seems to be a totally different market place (I've spoken to a few of the agencies I knew and most of them react as if I'm on Mars when I mention part time...) Guest guest
>>Dare I ask why? >> I don't know. Perhaps I'm being silly. I just know that I hate every minute of being there, and it not just because I'm away from the kids. I guess the simple answer is that it's not the right industry for me - I thought it wouldn't matter when I took the job - but I don't really fit in. Also, they have changed my job 4 times and it doesn't really resemble what they employed me to do anymore. Who knows, though, I might find another job and not like that either - I can't be totally sure that it's not me that's the problem... I've been working for nearly 15 years anyway so perhaps I'm just fed up. (DH says I am having a mid life crisis at the thought of being 35 in December...) Help...! Anyway I've decided I will give it a try with finding another part time job that I like, and if that doesn't work either I'll give up and stay at home... Why don't you give temping a try - I did it for three years while my DH was seriously ill, it gave me something else to think about, it wasn't permanent and I could take each different position if I wanted to, - or not if it didn't suit! The money was very good, as it tended to be quite demanding (I was a secretary at the time)and often short notice. I usually found that I was offered the job anyway but I was enjoying ny freedom too much to take any on permanently! Thankfully DH did recover, and I got full-time work then, but when I became pregnant I gave it up like a shot. Now that DS is 7, I do part-time work at a local prep school (not DS's), as a lunchtime supervisor. It's only term-time, just an hour 1/2 a day and I really enjoy it. I don't want to go back to full-time work now (I'm ancient at 35 :-P) but I still look back at my temping days with affection...
