The builders are cracking on here in the Curran household, so we are now

at the stage of looking for stuff for the boys rooms ( DH finally got

paid for some work he did last summer so we can also actually buy the

things!). It's the first time the older two will have had rooms of their

own, so they are keen to have lots of input - so the question is, does

anyone know of good sources of children's bedding, lampshades, borders,

stickarounds etc - we have the Urchin catalogue but that's about all.

I got the borders in s room from the Homebase store at Clifton

Moor, they choose a under the sea one and a space one, (this was a

couple of years back) but the borders are large ones and fill up 1/3

of the wall so they have blue paint then the border then yellow paint

on the lower part of the walls.

Also a trip up to Clifton Moor will give you a large B&Q as well.

If you do it on Sunday then you could pop into the NCT sale at

English Marters church hall.

Otherwise IKEA have a good selection.

There's some nice boy's stuff in Mccords - can't remember the

web address but they do have one. i was looking for stuff last

night -especially bunk beds as DS2 refuses to sleep in his own

bedroom so we are giving in and getting bunks for them in DS1's

room (they have to sleep in the same single bed - nothing we do

can prise them apart).

We had the builders in today - knocking out all the windows and

replacing them with new wooden ones - what a mess in the

house! I can't even go and have a nice relaxing bath as I'll have to

scrub out the bathroom first :(

There is still tons to do - 2 more windows plus all the finishing

off, and they can't promise to come back on Monday.

Wow, what fun!

IKEA sometimes do some jazzy stuff - i.e. not 'childish', so you won`t

have to replace it at puberty, unless you want to ;-) Guess you would

have to visit to see the range, catalogues aren`t much help as their

range varies from month to month.

Our membsec has builders in ATM doing major work (new kitchen,

including roof coming off, extending into garden and garage etc etc).

She's had to set up a temporary kitchen in the garage which is teeny

weeny and the only way to get to it from the house was out the front

door, into the front garden and into the garage. Imagine that for

8-12 weeks. Then they have had event after event.

First the rain came through the temp kitchen roof and flooded the

dining room (which wasn't anything to do with the building works),

then they found a well in the bit of the garden they were to build on,

and the worse bit was when they build a dividing wall but forgot to

put the door in :(

To say she's stressed is a bit of an understatement.
