I'm another one who gets very excited about Autumn and who enjoyed school - but I had a friend there who just didn't click with it at all, especially at Sixth Form. Academically, she did very well, which she informed a senior teacher when congratulated was " no ****ing thanks to this place " . (She became a psychiatrist BTW despite saying she wasn't very interested in people...) We'd moved in my O level year and in theory I was supposed to go to the local school for Sixth Form. I eventually managed to persuade parents and powers that be that I should go to the old place - helped by the fact that I'd picked up a boyfriend at the local school on their induction course and *still* didn't want to go. I *hated* that school, it just rubbed me up the wrong way and I really believe that I would have got into a lot of difficulties with both staff and fellow students had I gone there. -- jennifer@...
