This might be more critcial to follow when you get to higher doses, like 50 or 100mg, and for people who are also very sensitive. Some people seem to handle going from 12.5 to 25, and others, like me don't. I had to go 12.5, 16.something, and then 25. So it depends on the person.----------Jackie So, if I start DMSA at 6.25 approx, for the first round, does that mean the next round cannot be 12.5, but should be around 10mg each? ------------We usually recommend doing a few rounds at the same dose before raising, but if your husband had no symptoms/side effects from this dose, then you probably could try an increase. You could try 12.5, but if he has problems, then stop the round, and go lower next time. Or if you want to increase more slowly, split the capsule in three, which would be about 8mg, and try that. That would be a small increase, and would hopefully not cause any problems. If he does fine at 8, then going to 12.5 would be the appropriate 50% increase the next time.-------Jackie My husband just finshed his first round of DMSA at 1/4 capsule of a 25 mg capsule each. We wanted to increase the amount for this second round starting today. Can it be half the 25 mg capsule for each dose? -------------So he had no side effects from his first round? Otherwise, like I said, the usual recommendation is to do a few rounds at the same dose, but maybe splitting it in 1/3's would be a good compromise.---------Jackie Thanks
