Guest guest
and now to all of you....our new found friends and family.... Hi Everyone!!! Please forgive our shabby email invitation...we don't have time to wait and send out " real " invites. But we ARE having a " real " Party!!! We are having a " Celebration of Life for Glenn " Party. This is something I just came up with today, after Glenn apparently has made the decision to go ahead with the Denver Shunt Surgery. He spoke to the surgeon this morning, who is ordering the shunt. We were trying to get together a trip to Alaska in our new 5th wheel RV or a trip to Hawaii, but he has been in pain almost constantly the last 2 wks, with not much relief when he gets drained..not even a day or two. A trip would just be sooooo uncomfortable for him and some days he would not even be able to drive!!! He would have to get drained in a strange hosp. every 5-6 days, with strange nurses that probably wouldn't rub his leg during the procedure....LOL Now the drs. are saying " You really have no choice " . It's a very risky surgery, but so is this continuous draining of all his nutrients procedure...not to mention the pain he has and the weakness...just no quality of life. We are taking a chance by not taking the trip until after the surgery...but I'm not taking a chance on waiting for the party!!! Glenn has requested no glum faces...we are CELEBRATING HIS LIFE, which we pray will be somewhat lengthened by this surgery!!! If anyone has any ideas on things we could do or surprises for Glenn (don't tell him...Glenn, don't read this part), please email or call me. No " real " details available yet...trying to find a place in Balto. Co. so it won't be so far for the folks at ServiceBench...(all are invited!!!) We are hoping there is an opening at one of the Parks the weekend of Aug. 20 or 21st. We'll take either day. Has to be this wkn, so his childhood friend can come from ILL. He'll be in Spain the next wkn. I don't know how much longer we could delay the surgery if we can't get this together for that weekend. I guess that really depends on Glenn and how he feels and how his body is " acting " . The esophogeal bleeding seems to be under control... Yippee!! But it is a constant worry. Hopefully I can get this catered with help from family on some foods and drinks. Hopefully, a DJ. Not sure where I will get the $$ for this, but I absolutely MUST do this for him!!! And I hope as many of you as possible can come and share a time of joy and fun with us!! Please feel free, of course, to bring your husbands and wives, if they would like to come. For the out-of-staters, we can help find sleeping arrangements, etc. Once we get more details, I'll let you know right away, so plans can be made. We have something to look forward to...it'll be fun!! (cell) (home) Lots of hugs and prayers, Donelle Caregiver to Glenn
Guest guest
Donelle, That is so wonderful that you are doing this for Glen. I am so sorry that he is constantly in pain. And the risks of the surgery.... I am so terrified for him. But you know God is with you and Glenn. He will get you both through this. You are in my Pryers constantly. Guest guest
God Bless you Donnelle. God Bless Glenn for following his own instincts. I forget where you live. I saw " Balto " something...don't know where that is. I am going to be in Washington, DC on the 19th (my birthday) and the 20th with my oldest daughter who is teaching down there for the week. I am driving down by car and I am hoping that Balto has something to do with land. I am supporting your 1,000%. Great idea. If it wasn't the same weekend I would have brought my karaoke machine with me. That would have been a hoot!!! Maybe someone has one and you could save the cost of a DJ. Sending baskets of love to you both. Karima (and prayers, of course) Re: A Special Invitation...Sent to family and friends .... I will be there in spirit helping to Celebrate Glenn's life. What a wonderful reason to celebrate. LOL reminds me of my 50th birthday party, called it the celebration of my first half century.. Surprisingly we had a great turn out... I loved it... Guest guest
Wow Donelle, you are so wonderful. What a great thing to do. Nothing like building memories that cannot be taken away by anything or anyone! Kudos to you for being such a special person and caretaker. donna Grandmommyandme@... wrote:and now to all of you....our new found friends and family.... Hi Everyone!!!
