Guest guest Posted April 12, 2008 Report Share Posted April 12, 2008 I agree with TK that at the low doses that your doctor has prescribed there will probably be no side effects/reaction. The HC might give you a little bit of a boost, but don't be surprised if it doesn't, simply because the dose is so low. You will likely need to get up to about 20 mg HC per day before the fatigue will start to lift. Even then, it might take some time at that dose. It is good that your doctor is willing to prescribe these things. It is quite rare to find a doctor like this. In the future see if you can get free T3 and free T4 tests. It takes about 6 weeks for the thyroid meds to come to some sort of equilibrium, so most doctors test about 6 weeks after a dose change. TSH has absolutely no meaning for people who have centrally mediated hypothyroidism (because of abnormal signals from the hypothalamus and pituitary) (also called secondary or tertiary hypothyroidism). Doctors should be able to look that up in their text books, or even on reputable medical sites on the web. This is all good news for you.
