Guest guest
>I know rationally that he is young and not interested, and that is > fair enough, I have a friend who has 4 children very much the same age as mine, except her DD2 who is 3 months younger than my DS2 and was 4 yrs, 5 days when she started school. She really wishes she had kept her off for at least a term as it took her the whole of the first year to settle down, stop crying, clinging to mummy and she didn't feel she learnt anything that year. She's made good progress this year though. I didn't contemplate it with DS2 who was 4 and nearly 3 months as although wriggly and badly behaved he was very keen to learn, and he has always loved school ( but is at an all boys school so lots of wriggly bums at story time). Interestingly last week DS and I went on a visit to the local school nursery (he is elligible for a place in Sept). Whilst DS held his own, pretty much in all respects, I couldn't help but be amazed by how well all these 4 and nearly 4 year olds behaved. There was about 20+ children in the class and 2 teachers. Clearly knowing the routine helps, but they all sat still whe they were supposed to, all washed their hands when told, all cleared up when told. I'm sure they aren't all that good at home and a lot of the playing up is for the parent's benefit. Guest guest
I also mention that he inadvertently kicked a few heads on the way round? No wonder I'm a nervous wreck. I'm giving us both a break tomorrow (next story time date), but might try again, without Ben the week after and sit by the door so I can whisk him out. phine (Mum to 3.5 & Ben 2.5, Cambridge NCT) >but to be there with all these other mothers...whose children behave/sit still (not spin around on the table on their tummy) .....to know that they are thinking...thank goodness *my* child isn't behaving like that : Sorry but I've got no helpful advice at all, but your post did make me giggle - I could just picture the scene.
