Guest guest
I have found this really interesting to read (being Danish I obviously have not taken A or gcse exams) as I clearly remember telling my parents my grades when I left school and I was left with feeling that I could have done better and that my sister had done far better than I had (6 year older) then 3 years later my little brother was finished school and my parents was all over him about how great he had done and I asked to see what he had done.. I realised that I on average was 2 grades above him (that would be he was on D-E level's and I was on B-C level) so I asked my sister about her's and realised that she was the same as my brother (she had got seriously tired of school so did not study at all her last year) But it still to this day leaves me very sad that my parents did not manage to make me happy and proud of what I had achieved and instead managed to turn me against further studying.. I have promised myself that is one thing I won't do to my kids ;o).. Funny thing is that only 5 years ago my mother mentioned these grades from school and said my brother and sister had done better than me and I actually put her straight she then justified it by saying Oh well they had to work harder!!! (not quite sure how my sister is of same intelligence as me never was certain on my brother as he acts like a spoilt brat at times ) even 10-12 years down the lane my mother would not acknowledge that I had the better grades of all her kids.. Lonnie Phoebe & Eloisa's mama & expecting a Christmas delivery... My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what you start. So far today, I have finished 2 bags of chips and a Chocolate cake. I feel better already.
Guest guest
I got 9 out of 10 but failed Maths with a D! I was at a very academic all girls grammar school so they wouldn't officially let you into the 6th form without Maths O level. Anyway they let me (and four other Maths O level less girls) in but we had to have lunchtime lessons for Maths three times per week which was a tremendous hardship as in the sixth form we were allowed to go out at lunchtime and meet real live members of the opposite sex in the park and of course I missed out!! Needless to say I passed it at Xmas time!! Guest guest
my O-level results were quite good - my Olds (I like that) took me for a meal. Dawn, it's possible your problems are being mitigated by low progesterone, vit D and other factors. I had to have these tested myself and getting the progesterone, B12, Vit D and vit B6 fixed really helped my thyroid hormones work better. Something to think about. While T3 and T4 need to be optimal, the balance between everything else is equally importnat. Nat
Guest guest
Ginny... I've heard stories about the energy one can get from pred. Before we sold our home we had a neighbor across the street who took pred often and that little tiny 80+ y/o woman was a whirlwind around her yard/house. I mean even to painting. Whatever. She loved the stuff. As far as I know she is still living and works like crazy. Would you add your State and dx to your signature so I can rumble my brain and remember you each time? Thanks. Guest guest
Sher, So sorry to hear about the progression. It is always so hard to go to the doctor's and get that news. I am glad to hear that the prednisone is a temporary and not long term measure. My kids have taken the packs several times for various conditions and never seem to have the effects that 60 for 3 months does to everyone. I have you fast in my prayers. R. Guest guest
Sher Very good. Thats consistent with how I would understand it. In a nine day regimen most of us don't experience any real issues with it, although my former mother in law does go through mood swings even on six days. I don't and I'm very susceptible to meds. It's so good to know what we're getting into though. When a doctor prescribes something new to me I want to know its exact nature. > > > > From: Sher Bauman bofus (AT) wbcable (DOT) net> > > Subject: Results > > To: Breathe-Support@ yahoogroups. com > > Date: Wednesday, February 25, 2009, 3:57 PM > > > > > > I saw pulmodude this morning... > > I have 16% less lung capacity than I did last Nov. Guest guest
In my brother's situation - unable to eat, breath or talk normally meant a mean life. I would have made the same choice. It, too, is a disease with little or no effective treatment and eventually fatal. Depending on where in the body ALS begins, there can be a considerable difference in the progress of the disease. Usually, the first indication is the loss of the muscle between the thumb and the forefinger. From there it begins to affect the limbs and then the spinal area. My brother was first affected in the throat area, which is considered the last stage. It becomes impossible to eat, breath or talk. He refused feeding tubes and breathing apparatus and chose to let nature take its course. I stayed with him at home during the final weeks. His spirits were up, he laughed a lot - well, sort of - as much as his weak muscles allowed him. On the last night, I heard noises as if he were trying to talk. I went in and asked him who he was talking to. "Momma," he said. He died within the hour.
