Guest guest
Thanks, Angi! That's exactly what happened with DS' 9 month to 4 year carseat: which was fitted at Mothercare and I was assured it was fine like that... barely two years later, its own buckle has broken and I had a *huge* fight in M/care a couple of weeks ago. They said it was out of guarantee and they could do nothing about it. It plainly was out of guarantee, but I thought the least they could have done with their own brand product was lend me a seat while mine was repaired (it would have taken up to 3 weeks to get a new harness, which was the only way to do it). They wouldn't countenance it. Eventually, I got a large discount off a next stage car seat, but I had to create an enormous fuss... so not my store of the month!! Guest guest
> I read something in the AA mag a couple of years ago that said that > around 80% of car seats are not fitted properly. My DH hasn't got a clue in this department and gets very narked when I say I will check it if he puts it in and he just says , " you do it " so he will never learn. I caught him moving the seat to get the strap tight (unsuccessfully I might add) so I showed him how I kneel on the car seat to push it down whilst pulling very hard on the seat belt to make the seat secure. He doesn't understand that the give in the belt at the retractable end is OK aslong as the seat is firm from the other end IYKWIM. having a moan and sad that she could never trust her DH to fit the car seat properly
