Andy mentioned on the Autism-mercury group that DMSA should not be moist or in alkaline material - he does not like them to be referigerated (the capsules) I guess due to moisture issues. He also had suggested that one could put a drop of vinegar or lemon juice. But I need the doses ready to be drunk at night and for office hours. Thanks. ---------My understanding is that it needs to be in something more acidic, not just plain water, and should be fine for a number of hours, I believe somebody said up to 12 hours? I don't believe that room temperature matters, once it's in the liquid. And since they have much more experience dosing this way over at A-M for the kids, I would do it however they suggest over there.-------Jackie
Guest guest
My understanding is that once wet, they should be refrigerated. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.) I keep them in a tincture bottle (I use glass), that I then put in a small coffee-thermos. Sometimes I'll put another small bottle of something cold in there, and I find it stays cool for a number of hours. I haven't had any problem with refrigerating my DMSA caps. I've kept some for 2 years and, judging by side effects, it's still fine! Maybe it's because of the dessicant that they add to the bottle (the small package that's in with the caps)? Or maybe it's because once opened, I tend to use the bottle pretty quick? I'm not sure. Dave.
