I felt the same way about our community m/w for my last baby, and went

independent about half way through the pg.

You can contact the Independent Midwives Association -

someone here can recommend someone to you.

Having said that, I found my midwife by contacting the supervisor midwife at

the hospital I was booked in to give birth at. I wanted to be sure that I

could organise being delivered by a midwifery team I had met before, and

explained at great length why it was important to me and she was actually

very helpful. Had Judith (the independent mw) not been able to take me on,

the supervisor midwife would have organised something that we would have

been happy with.
