In my kids' hair tests (DDI), they both showed this. Can I trust any of the values indicated and supplement accordingly? Generally no, you can't trust the levels of essential or toxic elements when mineral transport is deranged. There are a few cases where certain minerals can be supplemented or restricted based on a deranged hair test, such as undetectable lithium or high (red level) copper. Also, adrenal signs or abnormal mineral ratios can suggest supplements or other treatments. But the mineral levels themselves are not reliable. Even on a completely normal hair test with no signs of derangement, certain elements reflect body inventory, others do not. You can learn more about interpreting hair tests from Andy's book, Hair Test Interpretation: Finding Hidden Toxicities http://www.noamalgam.com/hairtestbook.html A good guideline for basic supplement choices and dosages for children can be found in the files section of the autism-mercury group. Look for the " supplement file " . -- > Are the measurement meaningless vis a vis supplementation or not? Thanks, Helen
