Guest guest
Deb-thanks for the reply. I was diagnosed in March 2004 with stage 3B -1 of 29 lympg nodes positive. Surgery 4-7-04 at Vanderbilt. Six months of folfox 6 which ended in Nov 2004. When they removed the lining was there any type of heated chemo treatment. Makes me better to hear your story. I am a non smoker. Guest guest
Hi , Glad to meet you , sorry we had to do it here. In Sept 04 they diagnosed my husband Joe with stage 4 CC , they didnt find out about the mets ( even with CT ) until the doc actually went in to remove his tumor which was almost totally blocking him off. They wound up removing all of his sigmoid colon , the very top part of his rectum, 39 lymph nodes ( 3 tested positive for cancer ) and ALL of his abdominal wall lining . At that time they had said even with 6months of chemo his chances for survival was very grim , they gave him 22months total. He started chemo in Jan ( had ileostomy reversal in Dec) He was on 5fu/Lecovorin/Oxaplatin/Avastin/Calcium Magnesium(to help with the tingles ) He did this regiment monday 6hours infusion , then got a fanny pack of 5fu to take home for 48hours , then was off the next week. His last treatment was June 6 2005 at which time we asked again SO how much time do we have? at this time the doc said " There is a PRETTY GOOD chance he is cured!!! " of course no guarantees , but heck going from a 33yrold with a death sentence to a chance of living and seeing your kids grown is pretty good. So far so good , he still has issues with neuropathy but it beats having cancer. Also a Cea level of 3.3 isnt to bad, are you by chance a smoker , I know if you smoke CEA levels are slightly higher . What was your original diagnose?? And what treatment are you on? Take care Deb asorr55555@... wrote: Hope everything is going as well as possible. You mentioned your husband had mets to the abdominal wall. On one of my CTs they thought they might have seen a met in the area of the omentum. A follow up CT and PET did not see anything but with a 3.3 cea I am concerned. Could you tell me a little bit about how your husbands abdominal wall met treatments have been going. Thanks-
Guest guest
Hi , No , only treatment he had was the 5fu/Oxa . His CEA levels have always been pretty non existant , under 1 . How about it ladies, does anyone else out there thats NED have CEA levels that fluctuate like 's have? You are doing GREAT dont let those lil numbers make ya worry ( I Know I know sometimes easier said than done ) Deb asorr55555@... wrote: Deb-thanks for the reply. Guest guest
3.3 CEA is normal range. Even some without cancer have CEA in this range. Narice
