Guest guest
I also made (and still do make) all my own stuff and found it really easy - but must say I didn't go to the extreme of making my own ground rice! When I was on the " rice bit " I used the Hipp organic baby rice - I found it didn't come out as lumpy as some of the others and I think the mixing ratio was 2 liquid - 1 rice, I started with it adhering to the spoon but it would fall off quite easily and then progressed to making it thicker, any runner and I couldn't see the point of weaning as it was just liquid! I would say if it doesn't stay on the spoon it's not goner stay in the mouth! But if you woner make your own ground rice I would have thought pudding rice would be fine, either that or some places do flaked rice Joanne King SAHM to Ethan - HB 29.06.00 Minute Secretary Colchester & District

First time round he threw it all up everywhere, but >today he ate a spoonful and was ok except terrible wind...which meant he >grizzled all afternoon. Baby rice is *weird* stuff - it changes consistency. I'm a cloth nappying, yoghurt making bread baking kind of gal - but I drew the line at making my own baby rice (I did do some experimenting, but was not happy that the stuff was getting properly cooked and that would cause bellyache). For the miniscule amounts for a four month old baby it doesn't seem worth it (and far too tempting to give too much) - not when there are a reasonable number of plain baby rice brands on the market (or there were) (There was no way I was going to get into any of that before six months) I swear by bananas as a first food. I did use baby rice, but it was always a bit of a faff making sure I'd got enough expressed milk. How about having a nice rice pudding yourself instead? :-) -- jennifer@... I tried this with my DS1 and he wasn't impressed so I went straight on to fruit and veg. With the others I didn't even bother with the baby rice although occassionaly I would mix it with the fruit and veg.
