I painted around 25 faces - lots of little tigers and lions running around and have a booking to do a 'special' next week for a lady going to a Hawaiian do. We're off to St Cathrines today for their open day and Dedication of their new superdooper inshore boat. I have wonderful memories of Sennen. Pre DD's Dh & I used to visit the stations in Devon & Cornwall in Feb. Our only Holiday time and would have a great time meeting the crews - DD1 is the result of a mega pub crawl around Fowey. We took her back there when she was 3 months old and then went to Sennen for a weekend - first time I have ever seen a boathouse launch very exciting. Our boat is always afloat. Your comments about crew never taking holidays ring true here. We holiday separately. Caroline Jersey
Guest guest
I didn't realise you were crew - well I assume DH but maybe it's you? - what does he do? We were lucky on our week to Sennen that the lifeboat launched for a film crew on our first Sunday, so we knew we had time to have lunch at the Old Success and then be on the harbour front to watch it go off at 2pm. Very impressive. We then spent an hour on the boat the next morning with Terry, the coxwain. He gave DS1 (aged 4) a lifeboat pack, so he's now joined Storm Force and wears his crew badge everywhere - he's very proud of it. There was also a callout on the Friday but they only sent the inshore boat out. We really learnt a lot that week, mainly about the crew who are a great bunch, but also about the RNLI, and it made us realise just how awful the Penlee disaster was 20 years ago.
