Guest guest
Hi all, Thanks for your replies on and off list. All of you say the same thing - she should run as fast as she can from this quack (which, isn't very fast at all at the moment...). I have tried to tell her this the last three times she has visited the doctor and he has refused to do anything. However, she is refusing to do this as she says she likes the doctor. We are in the UK so money/insurance doesn't come into it from our side of things. She also says she is scared to find another doctor in case she gets labelled a trouble- maker. ly I'd rather be labelled a trouble-maker and get the treatment I need than.....well, you know. She says that me telling her it is *probably* thyroid related has calmed how down some out of her panic about the brain tumor - thank goodness. Indeed, she is walking around like a woman with a weight lifted off her shoulders and seems more confident and assertive today. She has made an appt to see " idiot doc " on Friday afternoon and says she will refuse to leave until he does the blood tests. I think she is making a mistake and should report the jerk to the GMC but I guess that is her choice. I told her to start off with the nicey-nicey approach ( " Oh, superior doctor, please be the powerful lord that you are and agree to giving me a blood test to put my mind at rest. If it shows it's not my thyroid then fair enough and I'll be in your debt forever.... " kind of thing - I think maybe he just doesn't like to be told he's wrong and that's why he's refusing) and if that doesn't have the desired effect then go for the hard nut approach ( " Oi, you, I'm the f'ing patient here, I know my body and this is my f'ing thyroid. Now give me the f'ing blood test or I'm not leaving " and then get handcuffs out and attach herself to the desk! Or, if they have her forcibly removed leave shouting " Idiot Doctor is negligent and he will let you die rather than give you a simple blood test. Do you really want to be treated like a man like idiot doctor. Get out whilst you still can! " as she passed through the waiting room!!!!) I hope she does stand up to him, and I hope she gets real loud in the surgery if he refuses. I just don't think she will. I told her I want to see the blood test bruise on Monday - I think it is so important for her to get this even if it shows it's not her thyroid after all. At least then she'll know one way or the other. It is good that she is trying to get help, I just wish I could make her get it elsewhere (i.e. from someone like my super-doc!! In fact, that reminds me I should go put him on the TopDocs list....). Please send good strength vibes (or prayers if that's your thing) to her on Friday afternoon.... Thanks, Zoë
