Guest guest
: " I don't think you should worry about the zinc and copper. " I don't have the choice to not worry about it. If I continue supplementing with zinc, even at tiny doses, I have nervousness, irritability, tremors, and major insomnia. I seriously cannot even tolerate 2-3 mgs of zinc for more than 2-3 days. I can't even tolerate vit B6, which speeds up zinc metabolism. I have eliminated supplements and slowly added them back in, and it is not very difficult to tell which are causing problems this way. After my first day of copper supplementation, it was like a miracle happened- I became so relaxed it was unbelievable. If I try skipping copper for a couple days, the nervousness comes back. " Andy says in copper deficiency all measures of copper will be low, as will serum ceruloplasmin. " I thought he said that ceruloplasmin was next to worthless and it is RBC copper that I would want (I think I read this in archives of Hg-autism). Andy also recognizes that some toxic people are actually low in copper. I need more elaboration on how to supplement and chelate with low copper, high zinc. He just spends a lot more time in the book on zinc deficiency/wasting. He also says that zinc that is high in the RED suggests zinc wasting, or past the halfway in the yellow. Mine was at the high end of normal green. I took this to possibly mean zinc wasting. I started supplementing with zinc, and 10 months later I am in a world of trouble with it. Now it is about halfway in the yellow, with normal mineral transport (not that that means anything, I suppose). I also have a high zinc, low copper diet. My daughter, who doesn't meet counting rules, reflects our high zinc, low copper diet in her hair as well. " Nervousness and tremors can be due to many things, such as mercury. " Yes, but mine definitely gets better with copper and much, much worse with zinc! It took me a good 2-3 months to figure out what was even causing these symptoms, and there is no doubt in my mind that it is my zinc and copper. " Andy says mercury toxic people tolerate high levels of zinc supplementation for a long time. " Well, it can't be one-size-fits-all. It was these statements that made me think it was okay to supplement with zinc and to avoid copper. Andy says the half-life of zinc in the body is 4 months, and I think it is just going to take time for my zinc levels to decrease. -Olif

The symptoms you mention from taking zinc sound like copper toxicity symptoms - I do not think they are symptoms of excess zinc. Are you taking molybdenum? What about PC and bile support? You might want to add those and then try zinc again. > " Andy says in copper deficiency all measures of copper will be low, > as will serum ceruloplasmin. He just spends a lot more time in the book on zinc deficiency/wasting. I was reporting what Andy states in Hair Test Interpretation, p. 117. The cases I have seen where Andy recommends copper supplementation on the a-m list, it was a small amount, maybe 1 mg. > He also says that zinc that is high in the RED suggests zinc wasting, or past the halfway in the yellow. Yes, this is more accurate than what I said. Mine was at the high end of normal green. I took this to possibly mean zinc wasting. I do think if it were me, I would avoid zinc rather than supplementing copper, especially at the doses you are using. -- > -Olif > > > > > >
