>I have a friend who bought a scenic around the same time we did and

she also had problems with the immobiliser. (only with one key though)

so perhaps there was some sort of problem with it? I must say though

that we didn't have any trouble in that area with ours..

It was a general Renault immobiliser problem -the Laguna (which dh

has) was highlighted on Watchdog a while back. The " plips " (the

electronic key tag) is deigned to reprogram itself everytime you use

it to prevent someone intercepting your code (i.e. the code is

different each time) but this bit was faulty -hence you could use the

key to get into the car manually but the immobiliser was...well

immobilised.

Renault UK coughed up for new plips and reprogramming as it was a

" recognised fault "

we do like the Laguna, (the boot capacity is legendary!)but it's days

are numbered, despite the 3 3pt seat belts in the back.
