Guest guest
I have my 4x cortisol saliva test and am preparing for a good day to use it. My sleep schedule is out of whack and not very consistent. Should I wait until I wake up in the morning and go to sleep in the evening to take the test? or should I take the samples starting when I wake up regardless of when? What if I didn't get a full night sleep the night before and wake up anyway and try to stay awake all day? would that be more stressful on my body? Should I try not to fall asleep during the day? Also is there any supplements I should avoid taking before or during collection? Thanks

Otherwise, I would try to pick a fairly normal day for you and do it then. If you wake yourself up earlier than you normally get up and take your first sample, it might be low, because this is when you would normally still be sleeping, and cortisol is lower then. If you normally take a nap every day, then I think you should still do it. You want to see what is happening on a normal day. And try not to get stressed out about the test itself, because stress raises cortisol also. Just try to take the samples as close to the recommended times as possible.------------Jackie Also is there any supplements I should avoid taking before or during collection? -----------Again, ask your doctor or the lab, review the information they gave you. Their pamphlet should tell you, but I think the main thing is they need to know what hormones you are taking, if any, and when last used. Otherwise, vitamins and minerals should be fine to take.----------Jackie Thanks _._,_.___ Messages in this topic (1) Reply (via web post) | Start a new topic Messages MARKETPLACE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Earn your degree in as few as 2 years - Advance your career with an AS, BS, MS degree - College-Finder.net. Guest guest
Thanks Jackie, I ordered the test myself from the lab. I will call them monday and ask about the times. It's a cortisol 4x + thyroid blood spot test I've been holding off on taking ACE, L-tyrosine(supports thyroid), and relora in case it alters the results. Do you think it's ok if I take any of these in the meantime as long as I don't do it on the day of the test? I'm anxious to see how they work. > > I have my 4x cortisol saliva test and am preparing for a good day to > use it. > > My sleep schedule is out of whack and not very consistent. > > Should I wait until I wake up in the morning and go to sleep in the > evening to take the test? > > or should I take the samples starting when I wake up regardless of when? > > What if I didn't get a full night sleep the night before and wake up > anyway and try to stay awake all day? would that be more stressful on > my body? I wouldn't try/take something new right before the test. Get a baseline without them. If it's stuff you already take, then I would ask the lab, or check their instructions. My test from ZRT was pretty clear on what to take/not to take, and had me list the last time I took things like hormones.----------Jackie I'm anxious to see how they work. ---------Be patient. And remember, don't start a bunch of new things all at once, because then you won't know what is doing what.-----------Jackie > > I have my 4x cortisol saliva test and am preparing for a good day to > use it.
