I do understand what you mean about being upset, but as you say, let's leave that there! I am having a MOST frustrating time regarding a downloaded Norton antivirus. Maybe someone (male or female!!) can help ? On my Israeli PC I had an outdated version of norton so I downloaded their " try before you buy " latest version. (took ages as I have a very slow connection here but that's irrelevant.) After it was happily installed it began nagging me to pay for it. Every time I opened ANY program, there was my trybeforeyoubuy, nagging me..heck I did have 30 days left! Anyway I got worried that it would expire while I was away from Israel, so I went online and paid for it by credit card. OK so far. Except that for a while, the nag screens went on nagging. When I went onto symantec's website and tried filling in one of those interminable tech support forms (as there is no direct email support) it inevitably ended me up at the same point: I had to insert the serial number of my product to proceed with the form. And that's the whole point of my gripe; I don't HAVE a serial number for this PAID FOR product. After about 24 hours, norton downloaded some kind of license which was installed onto my PC, and since then the nag screens have stopped...BUT when I click on my " about norton antivirus " to see if it shows itself as being licensed to me, it still shows a blank, and the option to register online is greyed out. I don't understand why, if I have downloaded, rather than had shipped to me, a product which is fully paid for, I can't have a serial number for it, and a proof that it is licensed to me. After all I have saved Norton untold shipping fees whilst incurring huge phone bills on the download, and I seem to be penalised for my trouble. I have tried PHONING symantec in the UK , TWICE!... they put you on hold and then go away on holiday I think! Anyway I gave up after more than 15 mns of an international phonecall, still on hold, both times. The lack of a serial number means I can never use the online support if I need it. Any geeks out there? Ruthie
Guest guest
No idea what's wrong Ruthie - I have a serial number on mine. It's very organised and lists the serial number for both the anti-virus and the firewall software in the About box. I downloaded mine directly without going for the free trial though. Did they send you an email with your order confirmation? I did, and this gave the serial number.
