Guest guest
Sunshine, How are you doing with the ACE now? Is it still working well for you? Have you stabilized at a specific dose? What time(s) of day do you take it? I'm just about to start ACE for the first time and I remembered there'd been a post about ramping up, so I searched for it. It's good to see this info. I think I will follow the " low and slow " plan, too! Even if it does mean splitting some capsules. ;-) Thanks, > > Adrenal Cortex Extract (ACE) - Dosage > > Just a quick update on ACE. I am low cortisol all day and especially low and out of range in the mornings, so I dose exclusively in the mornings. Dosing at lunch and evenings caused me to be unable to sleep at night. I increased my dose 50mg per week upto 200mg. I was feeling a little better, temps more stable but various " stressors " (for example a difficult chelation round) still hurt and my adrenals suffered and I suffered and my temp dived down. They did however always recover quickly within 24 hours or so. But obviously 200mg is not enough. I upped the dose to 250mg and then 300mg over 3 weeks, but that was still not enough. I was taking the Thorne Research " Adrenal Cortex " caps @ 50mg each. So I was taking 6 caps in the mornings. This works out real expensive and hassle to use up a pot every 10 days, so I just changed brands to Allergy research, Nutricology, Adrenal Cortex 250mg per cap. To speed things along I though I would ramp up the dose. I took two caps in the morning. That's 500mg ACE. Almost double my normal dose. That day I felt real bad, rough as old boots. I also got a blinding headache in the evening and had to crash out early. Headaches are very unusual for me and so it must be because of the ACE. I have also been taking my blood pressure regularly. Sitting and then standing just prior to bedtime. If it drops when you stand up, this indicates adrenal fatigue. When I doubled the dose to 500mg I took my blood pressure that evening……it hardly dropped at all. This is the first time ever it has not drastically fallen. Which is good news (I think.) I guess this means my next target dose is 500mg but I got to work my way up slowly towards that. Jumping up quickly obviously didn't agree with me because I really did feel like a sack o kak. That was 3 days ago and I am mostly recovered now. I guess I have had adrenal fatigue for a long long time, prolly my whole life, so I assume this is why I need to go slow on the adrenal support, my body has been coping as best I could with what it had, and can't use the new additional hormones I am suddenly producing. …..but i am guessing this. Whatever the reason I just gotta be patient and increase my dose slowly. Hope this helps. Take care, Sunshine
