Guest guest
Hi Laurel, It does look like a conversion problem, and you do still have the antibodies that cause Graves' disease and Graves' ophthalmopathy. With T3 having a short half-life you should notice symptoms soon after you quit taking it, most likely depression and lethargy. Standard Process contains a glandular extract that contains T3. Because it is illegal to sell products with thyroxine over-the-counter, the thyroxine is removed and the product primarily contains T3. This is always an option although I'm hoping you're able to get an appointment with a new endo who will prescribe T3 or switch you to Armour thyroid or a synthetic product containing both T4 and T3. Best of luck, Elaine

Guest guest
I meant that Standard Process sells this product. It's called Thyrotrophin PMG, product number 8025. Zoey can help you with the web site address, which I think is www.standardproducts.com

Guest guest
Hi Laurel, Funny that you found a metal works company in Toledo. Must be a sign that a visit is in order. Bugleweed will help lower your TSI levels, and reducing your TSI levels is a good goal. But the bugleweed will also lower your thyroid hormone levels so you'll have to up your replacement hormone dose a bit. Are you taking adequate selenium, like 100-200 mcg daily. Selenium is essential for converting T4 into T3. Hopefully Zoey will see this and provide Standard Process's web site address. Take care, Elaine
Guest guest
Inquiring minds want to know.. Was it a FULL 12 hours with NO Cytomel before you had the blood draw ??? -Pam L- :-)
Guest guest
Hi Inquiring, Yup. Probably more like 16 hours. I only had it bid. And...well Jody warned thoroughly about the cytomel. So what do you think? Guest guest
Elaine! You are amazing! Thanks so much. At least I have some logical idea of what direction to head. I received no call from the primary even though he " swore " an oath that he'd get back to me today or tomorrow. I'm not counting on him and thus will not be disappointed again. I tried the hyperlink and it does not work. I tried a search engine as well and got, along with other things, some metal working company in Toledo. But I'm very glad to know that there are some options left. I have ordered bugleweed for the autoimmune problem. Does this mean that I should consider taking it if the TSI level is still high? I know that I'm out on a limb here. And I know that this is dangerous. It can't be any more dangerous though than years of improper diagnosis and treatment can it? Its not like I plan to overdose on bugleweed. Or T3. I just don't want to deal with the hypo crap any more. And deal with it I will if the pattern continues. You are just the best that ever was girl! Guest guest
Hey Laurel, Since you may be going hypo and we know what this does to our attitude about life. How about writing a letter to yourself tonight. Remind yourself this is only your thyroid talking, and how this lack of T3 may affect you. Also have a list of your plans concerning this. Then...if hypo brain does set in, you can look back and review . Just an idea, but I know when I am too hypo I simply think it is hopeless and life has always sucked this bad. Then once back among the living, I look back and wonder how bad I really was. -Pam L- avoiding work again

Guest guest
Hey Pam, I would never think you were trying to kill me off. Not ever. I have just enough hope that my primary may call me back that I'm not off the deep end yet. At the same time I'm pretty sure that I could swallow a whole bottle of synthroid and it wouldn't solve the problem. I just can't seem to get anybody with a license to prescribe medication to believe that! In the meantime, even if I feel horrid, I don't yet feel as horrid as before I added what cytomel I had left. What Elaine et. al. said makes perfect sense, much more sense than any physician I've ever seen. Here is a reason. This is what is happening. It appeals to my sense of order, at least the sense of order I had before all this crap. Thanks so much for the advice and especially the advice about the letter. At the risk of sounding too melodramatic (I hate that! Never let 'em see you sweat! or cry!) I have spent most of the hours from midnight till two AM freezing and weeping. I've revisited all the good and bad times of my life. In one of my more recent postings I made the statement that you guys on this list is one of the main reasons I'm still alive after this summer. I know that the gratitude never comes through in an email but it is something I feel so much. The hope that I get from this list that I will get better, the love of my kids and friends, are the things that have kept me going. One of the people that I will be thinking of tonight in the wee hours is you. Thanks, Laurel Re: today's high drama soap-Elaine help please! > Hey Laurel, > > Since you may be going hypo and we know what this does to our attitude about > life. Guest guest
Hey Elaine, Yeah, I'm a bit homesick. Maybe a visit is in order. Want to meet me at Tony Packo's? Oh wait, maybe a bit too much garlic. I think after all this I deserve Mancy's. I owe you at least dinner for all your help. (Is anybody in the world that carnivorous any more? Big Mancy Steak and that French Onion soup and all the goodies that go with them? I wonder if they still put beets in the salad?) Then a short meditation in the Great Gallery. I love the Great Gallery. Did you know that they moved the Tinteretto? Wow. That sounded hyper. I just looked and I don't have enough selenium. I'll make a trip tomorrow to the green store and get some. Maybe that will help. The bugleweed has not yet arrived. When it does I might need some help figuring out how much is in order. Its probably in the archives right? Getting the extra synthroid will be difficult but probably not impossible. BTW my chiropractor cheered when I told her that I was going to try the bugleweed. In NY State chiropractors cannot order meds though. Too bad. This chick is the greatest. Its supposed to snow this weekend. I'm figuring that its probably due where you are as well. Hope that those eroded roads are safe. Take care of yourself, Laurel Re: today's high drama soap-Elaine help please! > Hi Laurel, > Funny that you found a metal works company in Toledo. Guest guest
Hi Laurel, There's always the Elbow Room if we get back there at the same time. Bugleweed is one you'll have to experiment with a bit as the dose is fairly individualized. It's a good idea to start with a small amount and move up so you don't become hypothyroid. Let us know what form your preparation comes in like tincture or capsules. Take care, Elaine
