Deeply suspect that my cousin may have this problem and am trying to get her to

see doctor Some of her symptoms are

Not losing excess weight despite being v. careful with diet and being very

physically active

Hair loss - coming out in handfuls

very tired all the time

IBS - painful + chronic heartburn

Is this familiar and can you tell me about treatment and effect.

> Deeply suspect that my cousin may have this problem

Gosh! Fell terrible that it is yet another medical problem and I am

answering - maybe I am ready for that Op! About 6 months after I had

DD1 I was diagnosed with underactive thyroid - massive weight gain,

hair coming out in handfuls, always (and I mean always ) tired etc.

Found out afterwards that it is quite common post prgnancy - mine was

hidden as result of other problems. Contact me off list - very happy

to tell you how it was diagnosed, alternative routes to follow etc
