If so I have a few questions as to filing an amended return 1040x 1. How do you deduct your mortgage interest? 2. Can you deduct the property and/or local tax? 3. I know you can deduct medical expenses in excess of 7.5% of gross income but how do I do it? Hi Narice!!! If you did a 1040A or EZ, you probably have to do the regular 1040 with the attached page.... for all deductions...and my mind is a blank what that is called. I'm going to IRS site right now...and will let you know. I'm going to be doing my taxes for the next 2 wkends...had 2 extensions b/c of all the " stuff " going on around here...Mom was in the hosp. in April when taxes were due, so it didn't get done...and then with Glenn and trying to keep up with my full time job and my full time online webstore, taxes was the last thing on my mind. But they won't give me or anyone any more extensions past Oct. 15TH...Yikes!!! I knew that, but how did it get here so quick??? Guest guest
You need to file the 1040X with attached " Schedules A & B " to add your medicals, mortgage interest and real estate taxes. Guest guest
Hope you got this done okay. I used to do taxes but been awhile and I just do mine online now anyway, and use a tax software. You should do that for next year.. The software just takes you one step at at time and pretty much walks you through the program. Asks pertinent questions and you just answer yes or know. Surely not rocket science. LOL... Believe me it beats doing it the old fashioned way. But good luck.....
