OK Tthe first thing is to take a deep breath and try to relax.

While a colonoscopy is by far the better test you'll be cleaned out for the

barium enema and they can still do a colonoscopy. In fact I'd ask for one

just to be absolutely sure they have done everything.

It is very possible you could have an infection or some less serious bowel

problem instead of cancer but only those test will tell for sure. Since I AM

NOT a doctor I can't tell you for sure either, except that everyone here has a

slightly different story about their initial symptoms. For instance other

than back pain that was mistaken for sciatica my husband had NO symptoms!

Others have had all kinds of warning signs and thankfully NO CANCER. There

is unfortunately no way to know without those tests.

As for getting cleaned out after 5 BM's there may not be much to rid

yourself of. However with oral prep you usually drink some kind of clear soda

like

Sprite or 7 up. You might want to try that and see if it gets things going.

The age thing is a factor in a lot of us not being taken seriously. In March

some of us will be in Washington asking our legislators to enact legislation

that would enable all adults regardless of medical history to be tested at

least every 5 years beginning at 18 or 20 and continuing through their senior

years if they so desire (yes 80's and 90's too ). There is ageism on both

sides, under 50 and over 70. When I joined this board in June 2003 the average

age here was mid 40's to early 60's. This year we have quite a few 30's and

40's a few older and one poor gal diagnosed at age 27-28!

Bottom line this disease doesn't give a hoot about age, race or gender. The

only way to stop it for good is to prevent it before it gets started.

Well, now that I'm off my little soap box welcome Katarina wish you didn't

have to be here but you'll find this a great group. We all laugh scream cry

and hopefully rejoice with one another.
