Guest guest
Joyce, This is a question you really need to talk to your doctor about. The thing is that an enlarged heart can be caused by many different things. One of the most common things that can cause it in people with lung disease is thickening of the heart muscle from the heart having to work so hard to get enough oxygenaged blood to our bodies. But that does not mean that's what's happening in your case. You need to question the doctor about this finding. Please don't listen to your friends regarding this issue. They don't understand your illness and the complications for which you are at risk. I have been told this is nothing. Not even worthy of consideration- by my friends who say they have enlarged hearts and it's nothing. Is it different if you have lung disease? Haven't talked to my doc but everyone of my friends says it isn't worth mentioning. What does na elarged heart do? They seem to think it does nothing. Guest guest
Thank you Beth- I will indeed ask my doctor. I just wanted to know if it were important enough to ask. Everyone says it is nothing. Guest guest
Joyce, Almost anything that concerns you about your health is worth taking the time to ask your doctor about. That's what the doctor is there for, that's what he/she gets paid to do, so never ever feel as though your concerns are unimportant. I'm sure your friends mean well but unless they are all pulmonologists, they have no understanding of your situation. It doesn't sound as though they take your concerns seriously. You have every right and even a responsibility to yourself to get your questions and concerns answered!
