Guest guest
I went to my Doctor's appointment today. As I have been unable to wean down from my 60 mgs of Prednisone, he has added 50 mgs of AZATHIPRINE. I am supposed to go for a blood test in 2 weeks to make sure that my white blood cell count does not get worse. Based upon the count being OK, I would start reducing the Prednisone. My pulse rate has been creeping up so he has me starting on oxygen. He is sending my paperwork to the transplant hospital in Toronto just to get the wheels in motion. No one knows how long it will take to even be evaluated. Guest guest
, I'm sorry that you are having a hard time. Hopefully the Azathioprine will do the trick and allow the doctors to reduce the prednisone. I'm on it also though I'm taking a higher dose to help control my auto-immune issues. I have dermatomyositis. I've been off prednisone for about 2 years now. They will be keeping a close eye on your blood counts and probably your liver function also. You should take extra precautions about coming in contact with germs and such as the Azathioprine (Imuran) is an immune suppressant. Good luck with the transplant evaluation! Guest guest
i was diagnosed in March O6, forget when i first met with the transplant doc, since i was working, was able to put off the transplant eval until the summer, it was done the second week of July if this helps with a time sequence there was no rush for the eval, since i was far from needing a transplant at the time just prior to listing, they had to repeat some bloodwork Pink Joyce IPF 3/06 Pennsylvania Donate Life Listed 1/09 www.transplantfund.org--- Subject: Re: Re: Doctor appointment todayTo: Breathe-Support Date: Tuesday, March 24, 2009, 8:33 PM , I'm sorry that you are having a hard time.
