It's early days yet to know just how long a haul it will be re. physical and vocal recovery - I hope for all your sakes that he is lucky enough to have a good speech therapist, as the loss of speech is a very hard thing to cope with (people will always treat you as though you're stupid if you can't speak well, and the " does he take sugar " phenomenon is so very true). I won't quote cases I have known at you because they cover the full spectrum of successful to unsuccessful recovery, but I will be thinking of you all and praying for your FIL - and it's a long way to travel, isn't it, particularly with ... We have all been up to Stockport and back as DH's Dad had a stroke on Monday morning. Two 5 1/2 hours journeys so we are all a bit whacked. His Dad is OK but has no feeling in his right side and cannot speak so it has been a bit stressful all round. I guess weeks/months physio are on the cards for him now.
