OOOOh, nothing like the battle of flowers Caroline ;-)) ... which I

went to when I was about 6 and have never forgotten!

All sorts of things , from minibuses to flat bed lorries, walking fancy

dress, line dancers, marching bands. One band was in full fancy dress as

bears/furry animals - pheweee!

There were several 'Ground Force'/Ground Farce' entries - cos Charlie

Dimmock lives/works in Romsey...there were a rather suspicious number of

men who were enjoying prancing aaaround with balloons up their tight

t-shirts;-)

A brill one was a horse racing float, with 8 riders walking along doing

a little dance across the road - each 'rider' had a light boat-shaped

frame round their middle, draped with muslin, held on by curtain tape

over the shoulders, & at the front it had a horses head/neck with reins

that they held.(a bit like the one you sometimes see with morris

dancers) .
