Guest guest
Hi, The usual starting dose is 300 mg/day. After about 6 weeks, the dose is generally reduced to 100-150 mg daily so it's not unreasonable to ask for a lower dose. Be sure your doctor is looking at your FT4 level since TSH can take a long time to rise. this can make it appear as if you're still hyper even when you're hypo. Guest guest
Hi Deidre. I didn't realize you were already on PTU - that's what comes of skimming through dozens of messages after vacation. > a day, and then after a month he told me to cut down to 50mg 3x a > day...is this normal? I assume he based this on labs and possibly your symptoms. What were your labs? > seems like I am gaining some of the weight back that I had lost > initally being hypeR (which I hate!). Yeah, you will, though it's not inevitable that you will gain more than you lost, just possibly what you lost. Having teenage daughters has kept me philosophical about my weight - I want to show them that eating well and trying to fit in time to exercise are important, but so is working with what you have. What you need to concentrate on now is eating healthily and hopefully you can exercise again. It's good for your physical and mental health, the latter of which especially we all know how volatile that is at this point.
