Guest guest
It's been a little while since I posted. My Mom was admitted to the hospital towards the end of June because she had a couple bad falls and just wasn't eating--also seemed very out of it and confused. At the hospital they discovered she had a bad infection when they drained her fluid. The doctors at the hospital seemed very down about my Mom because of the cancer--made it sound hopeless. They were really pushing her to leave the hospital and be put in a nursing home for rehab. The day before discharge, both her legs swelled with fluid and she was forming blisters. She was having i.v. fluids the whole time at the hospital so I don't know if this contributed to that?? They still let her go, though. That was over the 4th of July weekend and she is still at the nursing home being treated for her legs. I'm not sure if she still has the infection because they had to stop giving her the antibiotic because she felt sick from it. Well, she still is having problems keeping food down and sometimes will throw up a green colored liquid which I thought is bile?? She's also very tired all the time. I know they give her a pain patch for her pain and I believe it has morphine in it. She is having a heck of a time with constipation. I don't know if it's from the morphine or what and maybe this has something to do with her vomiting? She goes to see her oncologist on Thursday--she hasn't had a chemo treatment since May 24th but they can't give her one until this infection is better. There was a horrible nurse at the nursing home telling my Mom the cancer is probably so bad there is no hope. What a terrible thing to say especially when my Mom is so pessimistic--she needs to have hope. Any help you guys can give me will be so much appreciated. Take care.
