Guest guest
Francesca, halloumi is fine when you are pregnant..it's been pasteurised (hence the zillion year sell by date :-) ) As far as bacon substitutes go (and meat in general) I think it's hard to beat oyster mushrooms cooked in butter and garlic..they taste nothing like bacon but have such a great texture and taste, who cares :-) BTW, our local vegan grocery store has started selling purple tye dyed cotton sanitary towels, and suggests we should be prould to hang them on the line. I am just a prude or do you all find this unappealing too??? Emma (Keeps the washing line for nappies)

I am just a prude or do you all find this >unappealing too??? > >Emma >(Keeps the washing line for nappies) I hung mine on the line when I was at my Mums. I don't fancy seeing stained ones on the line any more than I'd fancy stained knickers, big knickers, knickers that don't cover anything much, knickers with twee motifs, knickers made of shiny synthetics... but unstained purple tie dye pads sound rather fetching. Not that I hang anything on a line at home - and I am a devout Keeper user these days. My sister came out of the bathroom here the other morning and said " Oh, hang on a minute, I forgot to put my [makes sucking noise] back in " from which I gather my birthday present to her last year is being used. Tell you what though, for someone who probably sounds like a right yoghurt knitter I've had loads of yoghurt making failures lately - any suggestions? -- jennifer@... Guest guest
... how do you find those menstrual cups...I have always been a bit worried about TSS, so never tried one! As far as yoghurt goes, I always make it in the slo cooker, overnight It turns out OK in there. I had a yogurt maker but that didn't work so well...leaving milk on the doorstep all day seems to be pretty effective too ;-) Emma

I love mine - though haven't got to use it much, yet I wouldn't worry about TSS - it strikes me you're far less likely to leave a cup in place too long than a tampon as it doesn't secrete everything away and leave you feeling as though nothing's happening, iyswim. And the blood in it is held away from your body (it's kind of acorn shaped, and it all pools at the bottom of the acorn). But it's comfortable, and easy to use. http://www.menses.co.uk is where I got mine from. Vicki

Just diving in to say I have been trying to get some, as to hanging them on the line no one can see my line really but depends on how obviously ST they are! If they have those awful loops then I wouldn't, if they just look like oblongs of cloth, well, why not?! Jules now going back into hibernation (computer-less) We still haven't got one at home. Hate all forms of sanitary towels, but have to say I wouldn't fancy them semi stained on the line, make mine a keeper -when my periods do return. Curran Mum to 4 boys.
