Guest guest
Hi You said, " Low DHEA can cause all kinds of problems and can affect various autoimmune diseases, including having an effect on the thyroid. " Do you know how DHEA affects auto-immune diseases and the thyroid and what kinds of effects it has? What are the problems with having too much or too little DHEA? I know you'll get some answers. Thanks, Zoey Thyroid, adrenals and DHEA supplements Hi - Has anyone had adrenal testing of the DHEA levels and found them to be very low? If so, did you try supplementing with DHEA to see if it had an effect on the thyroid levels? It was just a wild idea and finally found a doc to test my DHEA adrenal level. It was 82 (range 35 to 430). Low DHEA can cause all kinds of problems and can affect various autoimmune diseases, including having an effect on the thyroid. I've read that supplementing with DHEA can help boost low sex hormones in postmenopausal women. All of mine are low. I asked for the lowest dose of DHEA (5 mg per day) and got pharmaceutical grade. Now I'm too chicken to try it. Wondered if there are any experiences out there. Thanks so much, Chris ------------------------------------- The Graves' list is intended for informational purposes only and is not intended to replace expert medical care. Guest guest
Hi Aldyth - Thanks so much for the link. I found this to be odd: Quote: However, it is banned in other countries, including Britain, and there have been concerns that it could be taken as a performance enhancing drug. End Quote. Is it banned in Britain *because* it is a " performance enhancing drug " ? That's a little bizarre. I see that Pres Kennedy had 's. I think I remember reading that Jr had Graves' - isn't this interesting? Thanks again, Chris > > Hi I really wish you all the luck with the DHEA. My friend who takes it says she has felt so much better since taking the supplement, and although the trial has finished now she is going to continue taking it. > I have this piece of info on the DHEA trial here in the UK, I know it's based on ians but you might find it interesting: > http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/2385673.stm > I'd be interested to hear how you get on. > Aldyth > >
