Maybe try some glutamine, licorice? > > Do you think leaky gut can be healed during intensive chelating? Depending on what you mean by " healed " , I think it is possible. I am not sure what the ideal, ultimate, perfect gut would be like :-) However, for many people using enzymes, betaine hcl, removing or rotating allergens, treatments to heal leaky gut, and various other steps do seem to help them feel more comfortable and keep the gut working better. I think my son's was, > after over three years of enzymes. At least he stopped reacting to foods as well as I could > see, I didn't know about good GI testing then. My leaky gut healed several years ago after I first got sick, and before I ever heard of mercury or chelation, by removing foods and addressing dysbiosis. I didn't do anything to address leaky gut specifically as far as I remember, but time, diet, and supplements certainly improved things. > But I'm wondering how much gut health I can hope for when I'm dragging metals through > the gut so many days a month? Depends what you mean by " gut health " . It is a relative thing, and also a very subjective experience. I think most can improve their gut health. You can address dysbiosis by reducing pathogens as needed, taking *enough* probiotics of the type you need and other stuff to suppress yeast and minimize bacteria. This can improve things a lot. If you address problems like constipation, diarrhea, pain, and nausea, you can usually reduce or minimize these symptoms as well. Many things to try depending on the specifics of the situation. And if you treat leaky gut by providing nutrients that help it heal and eliminate or rotate the foods that cause problems, you may be able to alleviate leaky gut. NAET and similar approaches may not work for everyone, but it is one possible way to reduce or eliminate reactivity, and probably reduces the leakiness thing too. There are so many things to do to address various aspects of gut health. There are still things I haven't tried. In the past several months, the biggest things for me have been betaine hcl, thyroid hormone, and now parasite treatment. Great improvements. -- > Nell >
