Guest guest
TBH, I've never been able to think > of anything to say about them! ;-))))) > > Lesley > ---------- How about nappy changing routine? IE: how you clean their bum; what products (if any) do you smear all over for 'protection'. I'm only a beginner in my nappy changing career (almost 16 months) and I was wondering.... what do other parents use at nappy change - wipes/plain water/vaseline/baby lotion/soap and water............? I remember when my good friend had her first baby (7 years ago) she would use a wipe to clean and rub in baby lotion and vaseline. At the time I thought 'oh my god, all that 7/8 or more times a day!' I generally use plain water with a cotton wool lump/ towel dry / vaseline or 's Nappy Cream. Was advised by doctor when DD had horrid nappy rash to not use water but baby lotion to clean. My cousin used Almond Oil??? So - what do you all do? Janet

Did you know that in America they have wipe warmers?!!! I've never heard of them here but perhaps I'm behind the times. As for cream, I never used any unless they had nappy rash. I was actually told when I was training at college (NNEB) that cream and disposables weren't good together as the cream actually trapped the wetness against the baby instead of it being absorbed into the nappy! I have no idea is this is true or not and it was a good 20 years ago (gulp) but because of it I hardly ever used cream. When I was in NY recently I bought some wipes (what is she buying baby wipes for I hear you ask!!...well. *blush blush* we use them as wet toilet wipes instead of the more expensive ones designated for the job)..anyway the American ones were horrible. *very* wet and tore easily. Ghastly. Ruthie

I use whatever wipe’s on sale My cloth nappy boringness doesn’t (yet) extend to reusable wipes. >Did you know that in America >they have >wipe warmers?!!! You mean those things that all seem to be recalled because they overheat and start fires and/or have loose electrical fittings that give the parents a nasty shock? The wipes aren’t THAT cold! I guess you can sell anything if you convince people they need it... Phyllis __________________________________________________

Guest guest
> How about nappy changing routine? > IE: how you clean their bum; what products (if any) do you smear all over > for 'protection'. Initially just warm water and cotton wool to clean bum as instructed in hospital. Wipes used if out though always Pampers, despite always a Huggies nappy! Use wipes all the time since DS was older (can't remember when I dropped the water routine though) Cream - Zinc and Caster Oil - would swear by it. Although DS was very rarely sore in the bottom area, although plagued by eczema everywhere else! This cream worked wonders there too and I still use it. Guest guest
> IE: how you clean their bum; what products (if any) do you smear all over > for 'protection'. We use 's pink baby wipes because Phoebe comes out in a rash with any other wipe I have tried (Eloisa doesn't seem to care what we put on her botty ) I don't use much in the style of creams for " protection " if they have nappy rash I boil up some muslim squares in some chammomille tea and put those (cooled) into their nappy clears a rash right up.. If I am out and about and they get a rash I use Calandula cream (homeopathic remedy) seems to work fine... Lonnie Phoebe & Eloisa's mama & expecting a Christmas delivery... My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what you start. So far today, I have finished 2 bags of chips and a Chocolate cake. I feel better already. Stopped using them because a) got too expensive (they began as 80 wipes to a pack and suddenly became 72 wipes to a pack for same price); my 'little' bit for the environment; and c) didn't think they did any better job than plain water anyway and once the summer arrived we used to stick DD under running tap.
