Several years ago I worked at a Well Womans Centre which linked with a local

Asian Womens Group (there are only a few asian families in the area) and we

organised for a women only session at the local baths. It took a lot of

discussion because it had to be female staff as well and the balcony had to

be closed to spectators too. But one of the women who was over 50 went

swimming for the first time in her life which was amazing but even better was

the fact that the staff got into it and taught many of the women to swim. I

think 8 out of 10 got their 25 metre badges and the other 2 their 10m

So I think you're never too old :-))

This is why I question the point of women only sessions at our local

pool. )pen plan, cafe by pool side, mixed changing shared with the gym. No

possibility of it actually being a single sex environment.
